Isthmus is a print series celebrating my Zapotec heritage. My family comes from the Tehuantepec isthmus, Mexico and these are scenes inspired by that culture. I grew up surrounded and inspired by the colorful Tehuana dresses my grandma and aunts wore, vendors selling their products throughout the streets, and by the colorful handcrafts made by skilled artisans.
There are four small prints in the Isthmus series: Tehuana, Petatero, Jicalpextle and Barro.
Printed by my good friends over at Vahalla Studios. These are 9x12" screen prints, four spot colors on 100# French Paper True White cover stock. Each print is hand numbered. 50 full sets are available and 50 of each print are available as individuals.
In addition to the 4 small prints, there's a big version of the Barro print. It measures 22x30" and is printed on a 250 gsm "stonehenge" printmaking paper with two deckled edges. Each print is hand numbered in an edition of only 20 pieces, and ships for free in a sturdy tube.
